Naples Airport to Positano & Amalfi: Taxi, Transfer, Ferry

Positano is about 60 km from Naples Airport and Amalfi a little further along the coast. The Comune di Napoli's one-way fixed taxi fares are €145 to Positano, €155 to Amalfi and €160 to Ravello, per car and plus motorway tolls.

Official taxi

The usual rules for fixed fares from the airport apply: ask for the fixed fare before the ride starts, luggage, night rates and the airport supplement are included, and a minivan for more than four passengers adds €5. The last part of the drive follows the narrow Amalfi Coast road, and drivers are not obliged to take trips outside Naples.

Pre-booked transfer

A private transfer to Positano was quoted at €157 for a sedan for a mid-October afternoon arrival, on a 60 km route. We have not checked a live price to Amalfi yet; the booking page shows it for your date.

Ferries and buses

NLG ferries sail from Molo Beverello in Naples to Positano (€32) and Amalfi (€32.50); the Amalfi line runs from 1 April to 3 November in 2026, so check dates outside summer. By bus, take the Curreri coach from the airport to Sorrento, then the SITA bus along the coast. A CostieraSita 24-hour ticket costs €10 and has to be bought before boarding, from tobacconists or newsstands. From Sorrento the bus takes about 50 minutes to Positano and an hour and forty to Amalfi.

Road rules in 2026

The SS163 Amalfi Coast road between Vietri sul Mare and Positano has alternate number-plate days from 10:00 to 18:00 at busy times, and every day from 1 August to 30 September in 2026. Taxis, licensed hire cars and hotel guests on their arrival and departure days are exempt, so the rule mainly affects rental cars.

Which should you choose?

With luggage, a car is by far the easiest way: the fixed taxi fare or a pre-booked transfer takes you door to door in about an hour. In season the ferry is the scenic choice if you can get your bags to the port first. The bus is cheapest but means a change in Sorrento and a slow ride on a busy road.
