Fixed taxi fares are the official prices published by Portugal's 2024 national taxi price convention, checked on 2026-10-14. Metered trips are estimated from the official tariff, before tolls. Transfer prices are live quotes and vary with the travel date.
Vilamoura, the marina resort west of Faro, is 24 km from Faro Airport, under half an hour by car. There is no fixed taxi fare: taxis from the airport run on the meter. The Vamus Aerobus does not stop here, so the direct options are a taxi, a pre-booked transfer or Bolt.
Taxi on the meter
Most meters still run the 2024 national price convention. On it the trip comes to about €27 on a weekday between 06:00 and 21:00 and €33 at night, at weekends and on public holidays. From the airport the meter uses the per-kilometre tariff, in which you also pay for the taxi's empty return. Slow traffic and the €1.60 supplement for luggage in the boot add a little.
What changes on 23 October 2026
AMT Regulation 1324-A/2026 replaces that tariff with a flag fall plus a price per kilometre and per minute: €0.58 and €0.28 in the first year, with the per-minute part 25% to 75% higher at night, at weekends and on public holidays. A weekday daytime trip to Vilamoura then works out at about €23, clearly less than today's meter. Taxis have 90 days to reprogram their meters, so until about 21 January 2027 you may meet either tariff.
Is there a bus?
Not a direct one. The Vamus Aerobus (line 56), the airport's express bus to the western Algarve, calls at Albufeira, Lagoa, Portimão and Lagos after the airport, not at Vilamoura.
Pre-booked transfer
A private transfer was quoted at €35 for a sedan (up to three passengers) and €44 for a minivan, for an arrival on a weekday afternoon in late October. On a trip this short that is more than the meter estimate, by day or at night, so you pay for the fixed price and a driver who tracks your flight and waits at arrivals rather than for a saving. A standard taxi takes four passengers, so five or more need a minivan or two taxis.
Which should you choose?
For one to four people a taxi costs less than the transfer, and once a taxi runs the new tariff the gap grows. Book the transfer if you land late, travel with children or want the price settled before you fly. Bolt also picks up at the airport, at prices that change with demand.

Is there a bus from Faro Airport to Vilamoura?

Is a pre-booked transfer to Vilamoura worth it?

How we check these prices
The taxi estimates use the tariff set by Portugal's 2024 national taxi price convention (the 2024 price convention as set out by AMT (September 2024 report)). We re-read that source before every update; the last check was on 2026-10-14. Transfer prices are live quotes from the booking page for a set travel date, so your own date may cost more or less. If a driver quotes you something different, tell us and we will check the source again.
