Turkey Income Tax & Net Salary Calculator
Quick answer
Turkish income tax is cumulative, so the same gross salary pays a different net amount each month as the year progresses. Enter a monthly gross figure to see all twelve months.

Social security is charged on a base that cannot fall below the minimum wage or rise above the SGK ceiling, so above the ceiling extra gross pay carries no extra SGK deduction. Income tax keeps climbing, which is why the December figure is the one worth planning around.
Turkish payroll deducts four things from a gross salary: social security (SGK) at 14 per cent, unemployment insurance at 1 per cent, income tax on what is left, and stamp tax. Income tax is the complicated one — it is charged on cumulative earnings across the calendar year, not on each month in isolation.
The practical consequence is that your net pay falls during the year. A salary that nets a comfortable amount in January can cross into a higher bracket by autumn and net noticeably less in December, with no change to the gross. Most international salary calculators quote a single flat figure and miss this entirely.
The 2026 income tax brackets
Turkey taxes wage income progressively. Each bracket applies only to the slice of cumulative income that falls inside it, so crossing a threshold does not re-tax what you already earned at the lower rate.
Income up to the annual minimum wage is exempt from income tax and stamp tax for every employee, regardless of salary. The exemption is applied as a deduction, which is why very low salaries show almost no income tax at all.
Social security has a floor and a ceiling
SGK contributions are not charged on the whole gross salary without limit. They are charged on a base that cannot fall below the minimum wage or rise above the SGK ceiling, which is set at a multiple of the minimum wage.
For high earners this matters a great deal: once gross salary passes the ceiling, additional pay carries no extra social security deduction, so the effective deduction rate falls as salary rises even while the income tax rate climbs.
What to watch if you are paid in Turkish lira
The brackets and the minimum wage are set in lira and revised as inflation moves, usually at the start of the year and sometimes mid-year. A salary agreed in lira loses purchasing power against the euro or dollar between revisions.
Many foreign employees negotiate either payment in a foreign currency or an explicit indexation clause for this reason. If you are comparing a Turkish offer with one elsewhere, compare the net figure at the exchange rate you can actually access, not the headline gross.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does my net salary drop later in the year?
- Income tax is calculated on cumulative earnings since January. As the running total crosses each bracket threshold, the marginal rate on further income rises, so the same gross pays less net in later months.
- Is the minimum wage really tax free?
- Income up to the annual minimum wage is exempt from income tax and stamp tax for all employees, applied as a deduction against the calculated tax. Social security and unemployment contributions are still charged.
- Do foreign nationals pay the same rates?
- Residents are taxed on the same brackets regardless of nationality. Residence status, and any double taxation treaty between Turkey and your home country, determines what else you may owe elsewhere.
