Keyboard Tester
Test physical keyboard keys, left and right modifiers and held combinations. Compare before and after tests and print a report. No download or upload.
Click the test area, then press physical keys. Tab remains available to leave the area. Green = observed; blue = held; grey = not observed.
Observed: 0 keys. Held: None. Automatic repeats: 0.
Fn, media keys and OS shortcuts may not reach your browser. Missing input is not proof of a broken key. This tool does not measure hardware latency or USB polling rate. Input is captured only in the focused test area and never uploaded.
Check a used keyboard before buying, or repeat the same test after cleaning or repair. A grey key means it was not observed; it does not automatically mean the key is faulty.
A repeatable before-and-after check
Press each key once, then try the combinations you use in games or work. Finish the test and run a second pass under the same conditions. The report compares observed keys and automatic repeat events; it does not certify hardware health.
The diagram is a 104-key ANSI map. Mac mode changes modifier labels, not the physical layout. Unmapped inputs are included in the report. Fn, media keys and operating-system shortcuts may never reach the browser.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my keystrokes uploaded?
- No. Physical key codes are processed in this focused test area and remain in this page session. Typed text and key records are not sent to analytics.
- Can it measure latency or polling rate?
- No. Browser key events do not provide a reliable measurement of hardware latency or USB polling rate.
- Can I keep a report?
- Finish the test, then print the report or save it as PDF using your browser. Leaving or reloading clears the session.
