Why the price changes

Season is the biggest factor in the published prices. Voyager charges €260 for a standard flight from 1 April to 1 November and €160 in winter, for the same basket and flight time. Basket size is the next: Voyager's comfort flight carries 16 people instead of 20, flies 15 minutes longer and costs more in both seasons.

No authority sets passenger prices. In 2021 Turkey's competition authority found that balloon operators and travel agencies in Cappadocia had fixed prices and shared the market (decision 21-17/208-86).

How often do the balloons fly?

The Slot Service Center at Kapadokya University coordinates balloon flights in Cappadocia on behalf of the civil aviation authority (SHGM). In the season from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026, it recorded balloon flights on 196 days. Of 28,039 planned commercial flights, 23,615 went ahead (84%), carrying 609,800 passengers, against 810,432 the season before.

Weather decides each morning. Under the civil aviation rules, passenger balloons do not fly in winds above 10 knots, and the slot centre gives each sector a green, yellow or red flag; take-off is not approved under yellow or red. The largest baskets may carry up to 36 passengers. You can see the morning's flags on the slot centre's status page, where the times are in UTC.

Book your flight for the first morning of your stay. If the weather cancels it, there is still time to fly on a later day: Voyager, for example, offers the next morning's flight or a full refund.

What the price usually includes

Voyager lists hotel transfers within Cappadocia, breakfast, the flight, a champagne celebration and a flight certificate. Its flights take off near Göreme. Skyway does not take children under 6 or pregnant passengers, and asks that passengers can stand for an hour and take the landing position. Read the operator's conditions before booking, as they differ.

GetYourGuide lists flights from several operators with reviews and cancellation terms side by side, which helps if you want to compare dates.
